Time capsule buried in Hyde

Pupils at St Paul’s RC Primary School in Hyde helped mark a milestone this week as Warm Front Ltd celebrated its 20th anniversary with a time capsule burial and the planting of a commemorative Silver Birch tree.

Pupils at St Paul’s RC Primary School in Hyde joined the Warm Front Ltd family today to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary with a special time capsule burial and the planting of a Silver Birch tree.

The children helped lower the capsule, packed with their drawings, letters, and predictions about the future of renewable energy, into the ground. It’s set to be reopened in 2045, when many of them will be adults living in the world they imagined. A Silver Birch tree was planted beside it to mark the occasion and to represent growth, sustainability, and strong community roots.

As part of the celebration, Warm Front Ltd also gifted the class a TTS Renewable Energy STEM Class Kit to inspire future learning about clean energy.

The event capped off a summer long project where pupils explored renewable energy, sustainability, and what a greener world might look like in 2045. During this time, the children took part in a “summer challenge,” growing their own sunflowers to see how these sun-loving plants mimic the behaviour of solar panels. Warm Front also ran a competition inviting the kids to imagine what renewable energy might look like in 2045, which was won by a young pupil named Heidi.

Stewart Duffy, Managing Director of Warm Front Ltd and a proud member of the family-run business, joined pupils for the celebration, helping with the tree planting and presenting prizes for the summer challenge and competition.

Stewart Duffy commented: “Working with the children of St Paul’s has been inspiring. Their enthusiasm for sustainability shows just how important community and education are in building a cleaner, brighter future.”
